FAO pilot study reveals policy indicators' impact on the agriculture sector in former Soviet Union countries

Monitoring and Analysis of Food and Agricultural Policies (MAFAP) in Selected Countries of the Former Soviet Union: The MAFAP project generates a range of indicators to assess the influence of policies and market dynamics on various commodities, across different countries, and over time.

To gain deeper insights into how national agricultural policies encourage or discourage economic activities within the agriculture sector, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), in partnership with the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia and national researchers, conducted a pilot study. This study focused on the surveying of quantitative policy indicators in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, and Moldova.

A final report on agricultural policy monitoring was published by FAO in 2022. GCAD team was actively involved in country level research and analysis.
